William "Bill" Henry Lapeer, Jr.

William “Bill” Henry Lapeer, Jr., age 74 of Hopkinsville, passed away on Thursday, August 11^th at his home of natural causes.

Bill was born on June 29, 1948 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the youngest of 2 children born to the late William Henry, Sr. and Helen Christine

(Hooper) Lapeer.

Bill attended Schafter High School in Southgate, Michigan and graduated in 1966. After high school he enlisted in the US Army. He served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 and did the rest of his tour in Germany from 1968 to 1969.

On his return from the service, he married and had three great children, Jeremy Lapeer (Tammy) of Pleasant View, Tennessee, Ryan Lapeer (Amber) of Farmington Hills, Michigan and Lisa Lapeer Walker (Joshua) of Woodmere, Ohio.

Bill joined the National Guard/AGR program in 1979 and retired from it as Master Sergeant (E8) of the Signal Corp in 1998. While in the program, he met and married his present wife, Sharon Myers of 30 years on October 18, 1991. To this union included a daughter, Kristy Stalzer (Mark) of Scottsdale, Arizona and a son, Justin Myers (Candy) of Wesley Chapel, Florida.

After retiring he moved to Florida and worked for the Florida Child Support Enforcement for an additional 12 years finally retiring to Hopkinsville, KY in 2010. He is a lifetime member of the VFW, the American Legion and the DAV.

To cherish his memory and love are his seven grandchildren, Abigail, Sophia, Alisha, Lorelai, Cara, Joshua and Amelia; a niece, Cheryl Lapeer and a nephew, Larry Lapeer. Family was always his first priority.

By his request, a cremation will be honored and placed in the Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia, Michigan beside his loving parents.
