Reverend Jimmy D. Dukes, age 80 of Elkton, passed away on Wednesday, October 21st at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville, Tennessee of natural causes.
He was born April 3, 1940 in Todd County, Kentucky the son of the late Claude Sidney Dukes Sr. and Bertha Rene Rager Dukes.
He was the Pastor of New Life Worship Center for 43 years. He also was a successful insurance agent for 23 years. He was a man of great character and integrity. He truly enjoyed life, loved nature, traveling, painting pictures and was a wonderful carpenter. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to his community. He loved his family and his church family was very dear to him but more than anything he loved the Lord.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Susan Dukes; three brothers Claude Dukes Jr., Arvin Dukes and Robert Dukes; five sisters Lula Carter, Mary Williams, Estelle Sanders, Lola Francis Cowling and Minnie Brobst. He is survived by his wife Patricia Dukes of Elkton; three sons Brent Dukes of Clarksville, Todd Dukes (Toby) of Russellville and Andrew Dukes of Elkton; a daughter Karen Heflin of Elkton; a brother Earl Dukes of Smyrna, Tennessee; two grandchildren Kevin Heflin (Deanna) and Brad Heflin (Ashley); seven great grandchildren Tayler Polston (Zach), Hunter Heflin, Chase Lancaster, Bethany Lancaster, Chase Alexander Heflin, Kaitlyn Heflin and Braden Heflin and one great great granddaughter Addison Warren.
Visitation with the family will be on Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 at the Todd County Funeral Home. Funeral service will be private on Monday with Rev. Kevin Heflin officiating. Interment will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery. Funeral service will be live streamed by the family.
Due to the coronavirus the visitation will be a walk-through visitation only and mask will be required per the families’ request. No shaking hands or hugging and there will be social distancing.
