Mettie Howard Obituary

Mettie Bell Howard, age 88 of Hopkinsville, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 22nd at her home of natural causes.

 

She was born June 23, 1934 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to the late James Edward and Eula Mae Mumford Moseley.

 

Mettie was joined in marriage to George Washington Howard who preceded her in death in 2007. To this union 5 children was born. She took a serious interest in the Bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the age of 30 on September 5, 1964. She worked as a private care giver for many years and was gifted and talented in many ways. She loved her family, crocheting, flower gardening, decorating and cooking but most of all she loved talking about the Bible and spreading the Good News about God’s Kingdom. She looked forward to life everlasting here on a paradise earth and she wanted each and every person to know about our grand God Jehovah and use their lives to serve him forever.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Moseley, Milton Larsander Moseley and James Sargent Moseley and two sisters, Carrie Lee Grimes and Mary Francis Leavell. She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories, a daughter, Lisa Howard of Hopkinsville; four sons, Dwight Howard (Minnie), David Howard, Andre Howard all of Hopkinsville and Ray Howard of Jeffersonville, Indiana; three sisters, Diane Drumwright of Hopkinsville, Willie Winston (Jimmy) of Fairview and Carolyn Slaughter (Joe) of Lancaster, California; four grandchildren, Joy Howard of Hopkinsville, Brandy Ross (Kevin) of Stockton, California, Jerry Moten (Jennifer) of Bowling Green and Able Moten (Shannon) of Evansville, Indiana and five great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

There will be a Memorial Service at a later date on Zoom.

 

The family of Mettie Bell Howard would like to thank everyone for their cards, phone calls, text messages, food and numerous expressions of concern, love, sympathy and most of all the prayers during these trying times. We have sustained a great loss and your support has helped us immensely. We will always be grateful to each of you.
