Kathy Sue (Denton) (Banks) Cook, age 68 of Hopkinsville, passed away on Friday, January 27th at her home of natural causes.
She was born October 19, 1954 in Coldwater, Michigan the daughter of the late Archie Dean Denton and Martha Frances (Shaver) Neal.
Kathy was a resident of Battle Creek, Michigan until she relocated to Hopkinsville, KY in 2021. She had an undying love for her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a love of helping others. She worked in Home Health Care most of her life as a CNA until her health started to decline years ago. She loved to garden, write poetry and propagate house plants using stem cuttings from another, creating beautiful, lustrous, thriving house plants. In her younger years, Kathy loved to roller skate, go to the movies and hang out with her sisters and cousins.
She was preceded in death her father, Archie Denton and her beloved mother, Martha Neal; her best friend (& father to her children), James W. Banks; two brothers, Jim and Kenny Denton and two sisters, Debbie and Terry Denton.
She is survived by six sons, David Banks (Carrie) of Hopkinsville, W. Todd Banks (Natasha) of Battle Creek, MI, Benjamin Banks and Andrew Banks both of Hopkinsville, Caleb Banks of Battle Creek, MI and Zachary Banks (Jennifer) of Central City, KY; three daughters, Barbara Dukes of Chicago, IL, Martha Banks (Marty) of Battle Creek, MI and Kathy Jo Mackety of Fulton, MI; a brother, Michael Denton (Janet) of Battle Creek, MI; two sisters, Linda Maun and Marty Jo Hutchings (Rusty) both of Battle Creek, MI; a special daughter, Kimberlyn LaDere (Randy) and their three children & grandson (Kathy’s grandchildren & great grandson); Kaidee, Terran and Desmond LaDere and Connor Goodner all of Brenham TX; twenty-eight grandchildren, Kiree, China and Adrian Dukes, Robert Channey-Banks, Maurice Banks (Tony), Megan Gorham, Kallie Banks, Kristen VanNort, Mercedes Castillo (Little Feather), Chazz Banks, Alan Mackety, Jacob, Keagan, Makayla, Hayden and Aaliyah Banks, Dillon and Trevor Banks, Brennan Banks (Cristin) and Gaibrien Banks, Kassidi, Savanna, Hailey, Shawn, Aiden, Malaya, Jeremicah and Malekhi Banks and fifteen great grandchildren, Kamira, Sophia, Paris, Ariel, William, Robert III, Ja’Miris, Ella, Adalynn, Evelyn, Braylen, Harper, Tyler, Pereseus and Julian.
Also surviving is her estranged husband, Charles Cook and his son, Charles Cook, Jr. and his daughter, Amanda Mosby.
A special thanks to Andrew, Benjamin, Gaibrien, Zachary, Jennifer and family for their endless loving care of our momma in her time of need and on her journey home. We will be forever grateful.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 11th from 2:00 until Memorial Service time at 4:00 at the Pine Creek Indian Reservation Community Center, 1485 Mno-Bmadzewen Way, Fulton, MI 49052.
