John James Sr.

John L. James Sr., age 77 of Palmyra, Tennessee and formerly of Hopkinsville, passed away on Saturday, August 28^th at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville, Tennessee of natural causes.

He was born August 10, 1944 in Nicholasville, Kentucky the son of the late Clyde Paris and Janie McCoy James.

He was a member of Christ Fellowship Church in Cunningham, Tennessee where he served as the music director for 15 years. He loved the Lord, his family, playing piano, singing and collecting antiques.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley James. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis James of Palmyra, Tennessee; three sons, John James Jr., Jeff James and Chris James (Rhonda) all of Hopkinsville; a daughter, Renea Matlock of Hopkinsville; three stepchildren, Michelle Grigsby of Alva, Florida, Ethan Wayne Bates of Naples, Florida and Brandy Detzel of Alva, Florida; two brothers, Billy James of Monticello, Kentucky and Harold James of Kileen, Texas; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday, September 3^rd from 5:00 until funeral service time at 7:00 at the New Covenant of Grace Ministries Church in Hopkinsville with Rev. Jeff James and Pastor Gary Akins officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the family for funeral expense.

We are asking to follow the CDC guidelines of wearing a mask and social distancing.
