Mr. Cleatus F. “Clete” Dillingham, age 84 of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and formerly of Christian County, passed away on Saturday, February 17th at the Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky of natural causes.
He was born May 24, 1933 in Dawson Spring, Kentucky the son of the late James Marvin and Ola Mae Dillingham.
He was a veteran in the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. For many years, Clete owned a full-service barber shop taking meticulous care of his customers in the “old style” barbering. He also served in several law enforcement capacities for the Christian County Sheriff’s Department. His love, charisma and affirming words were a special gift to family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as a brother James Russell Dillingham and three sisters Ruth Manners, Sue Chilton and Linda Saturley.
He is survived by his wife Linda Dillingham of Elizabethtown; a son James Dillingham (Sonya) of Hopkinsville; a daughter Lisa Addington (Kevin) of Elizabethtown; a sister Naomi Nixon of Atlanta; three grandchildren Shane, Lily and Ava Addington as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Dawson Springs, Kentucky.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice organization of choice.
