Mrs. Helen Marshall, age 76 of Hopkinsville, passed away on Monday, July 8th at her home of natural causes.
She was born November 29, 1942 in Hickman, Kentucky the daughter of the late Paul and Nettie Mae Carrico Stahr.
She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church and a graduate of Nazareth College where she received her bachelor’s degree in biology. After receiving her degree, her career of almost 50 years as a Medical Technologist took her to many hospitals in many cities, including Memphis, TN, Madisonville, KY, Greenville, KY, Clarksville, TN, Annapolis, MD, and Bradenton, FL. She was a master gardener and she volunteered at the Western Kentucky State Fair for several years for produce, she took great pride in supporting the Pennyrile Area Community Band, she was a past president of the Little River Branch of the Audubon Society, a huge Kentucky Wildcat Fan and she also loved to cook and spend time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as one brother Charles “Joe” Stahr and one sister Earela Mae Broadfoot. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Tom Marshall of Hopkinsville; two daughters Kristen Upton and Anne Guerrero both of San Antonio, Texas; a sister Mary Ann Stahr of Clarksville, Tennessee and six grandchildren.
There will be a Memorial Service on Tuesday, August 6th at 10:00 a.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church, 216 E. 6th Street, Hopkinsville.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donation be made to the YMCA in Hopkinsville in her name. You can make donations online, in person or mail to 7805 Eagle Way, Hopkinsville, Kentucky 42240.
