Mr. Douglas Elmo Gibson, age 88 of Hopkinsville, passed away on Wednesday, February 21st at the Covington’s Convalescent Center in Hopkinsville of natural causes.
He was born December 31, 1929 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky the son of the late Sam Nick and Ricie (Powell) Gibson.
He served in the United States Navy for 9 years, he loved to play pool, hunt, fish and go to the Hopkinsville Senior Citizens.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as one daughter Lisa Altic; one brother Sam Gibson and one sister Betty Jean Agostino.
He is survived by his wife Linda Gibson of Hopkinsville; seven sons Charles Eugene “Skip” Gibson of Hopkinsville, Steven Gibson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Alan Gibson of California, George Gibson of Louisville, Kentucky, Chris Gibson of Pensacola, Florida, Maxwell and David Koontz both of Hopkinsville; two daughters Cathy Gibson Jerles and Cynthia McCraw both of Hopkinsville; one brother Bill Gibson of Hopkinsville; five sisters Mary Dame, Norma Lee Todd and Peggy Huff all of Indiana, Barbara Gibson of Nashville, Tennessee and Wanda Brown of Hopkinsville; twenty-two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
There will be a Graveside Service on Friday, March 2nd at 1:00 with Military Rites at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville with Rev. Joe Huff officiating. There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, March 3rd at the Gracey West Union Church, 125 Gracey Sinking Fork Road, Gracey, Kentucky at 1:00 with Rev. Joe Huff officiating.
